Dale City furnaces, Lake Ridge heat pumps: two kinds of Woodbridge duct job.
Woodbridge takes in six Census places under one mailing address, and they went up at different times. Dale City, the biggest, is about two thirds single-family houses, the median one built in 1983. Lake Ridge’s median is 1985, and more than four in ten of its homes are townhouses. Potomac Mills is mostly 1980s and 90s. The Woodbridge CDP, the older core around Route 1, is the oldest and the newest at once: about one home in nine went up before 1960, and a third since 2000.
In a Dale City house of that era the furnace often sits on the lower level, with a sheet-metal trunk down the middle of the house and branches off it to each room. The return side is often a sheet of metal nailed across the bottom of the floor joists, so the bay between two joists becomes the duct. Dust settles on the bare wood and the nail heads in there, and that’s usually where the camera goes first.
Lake Ridge splits about evenly between gas and electric heat, and in Potomac Mills about two thirds of owners heat with electricity. In a 1980s townhouse that usually means a heat pump, with the air handler in a closet or the attic and a short trunk feeding a few rooms per floor. A smaller system with shorter runs, and one extra part to look at: the backup heat strips sitting in the airstream inside the cabinet.
The third of the Woodbridge CDP built since 2000 is a different job again. Newer construction there leans to flexible duct, and about three in ten homes in the CDP sit in condo and apartment buildings, where the air handler is usually in a hall closet and the runs are short. The unit’s own system is usually the owner’s to keep up; a duct or riser that serves other units is the association’s.

What duct cleaning costs in Woodbridge.
The same price book as our air duct cleaning page, for a home up to 2,000 square feet on one system. We look first: the tech takes a cover off, puts a camera in and photographs what’s in your ducts, then shows you, so you see their current condition before you decide. No charge, including when yours are fine. Then you get the price in writing, then we clean.
- Return Air Duct Cleaning$298
- Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning$598, regularly $798

A second system bills at 90 percent of the tier, because it’s isolated and cleaned on its own. The calculator on our air duct cleaning page does the arithmetic for a bigger house.
The dryer vent cleaning is the yearly one, and it’s in Comfort+ membership at $199 a year along with a water heater flush with a sewer camera inspection, a heating maintenance visit and a cooling maintenance visit.
When duct cleaning is worth it in Woodbridge.
The last tenant just moved out
Close to half the homes in the Woodbridge CDP are rented. An empty unit is the easiest time to reach every register and grille, and the next tenant moves in after you’ve seen the photos of what was inside.
You just bought the place
You don’t know whether the last owners had three cats or ever took a register cover off. Most new owners want it done once, early, so they know what they’re starting with.
You’re seeing it at the registers
Grey fuzz on the register face, or dust back on the furniture a day after you wiped it. That’s the one people usually call about.
What the county says about dryer vents.
Prince William County
Prince William County Fire and Rescue says to clean the lint out of the dryer vent pipe once a year, to check the venting behind the dryer for damage or restriction, and to have the dryer inspected if clothes take longer than normal to dry or come out hotter than usual. Source.
How to pick the best duct cleaning company in Woodbridge.
Questions to ask anybody who quotes you, us included.
Will they tell you how they’ll clean a return that’s only a joist bay?
In plenty of older Dale City and Woodbridge houses the return isn’t a duct at all, just the space between two floor joists closed off with sheet metal. Ask how they reach the far end of it. A quick pass with a hose at the grille leaves the dust past arm’s length right where it was.
Do they look before they quote?
Ask whether they’ll put a camera in and show you photos of what’s inside first. A price given at the door, sight unseen, is a price for the average house, not yours.
Do they clean the returns, or only the supply vents?
The returns are the big grilles that pull air back to the system, and they’re the side that collects dust. A job that only counts supply registers leaves half the system alone.
Is the price for the whole system, in writing?
Ask what it covers: every supply and return, the main trunk, the blower compartment. The $59 mailbox coupon covers getting somebody into the attic.
What our customers say.
Aaron, Kaiden, Oscar, Derek and Felix did a great job installing an HVAC unit and cleaning out the ducts and dryer vents, which were very difficult to access! They were all very professional!

Duct cleaning questions from Woodbridge.
Do you clean ducts in Lake Ridge, Dale City and Potomac Mills?
Yes. All three carry a Woodbridge mailing address, and so do the streets along Route 1. Every one gets the camera photos first and a written price from the same book after.
My Lake Ridge townhouse runs a heat pump. Is the duct cleaning any different?
A little. The air handler usually lives in a closet or the attic instead of a basement, the runs are shorter, and the backup heat strips sit inside the cabinet, so the tech looks them over with the panel off. Tell us where your air handler is when you book, so the crew comes ready for an attic if that’s where it is.
What’s the burning smell the first time the heat comes on?
Usually dust cooking off the heat strips or the burner after a summer of sitting, and it fades as that first run goes on. If it comes back every cold morning, or smells like anything other than dust, call us. That’s a service visit, and the camera photos will show whether the ducts are feeding it.
How much does air duct cleaning cost in Woodbridge?
$598 for Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning, regularly $798, on a home up to 2,000 square feet with one system, $298 for Return Air Duct Cleaning, and $1,798 with an ActivePure air scrubber installed. A dryer vent is $298 on its own or $199 added to a duct cleaning.
Is it worth it?
Sometimes, and the camera photos are how you find out. If the duct walls are furred over, cleaning takes that out of the loop your air runs through, and the before and after are obvious. If the metal is clean, it isn’t worth doing and we’ll say so. The EPA’s position is that routine cleaning hasn’t been shown to prevent health problems, so we don’t sell it that way.
