Old basement laundries in town, upstairs laundry rooms out in New Baltimore.
Nearly three in ten homes inside the Town of Warrenton were built before 1960. Houses that old weren’t laid out around a clothes dryer, so the dryer vent line was added later, often from a basement laundry straight out through the rim joist or a back wall. The run is short. The trouble tends to sit behind the machine, in a crinkled foil or vinyl hose that’s been crushed against the wall for years and holds lint in every fold.
Most Warrenton mail goes outside the town: about 34,700 people live in ZIP codes 20186 and 20187, and about 10,200 of them inside the limits. New Baltimore, along Lee Highway in 20187, has more residents than the town does. Nearly all of its homes are single-family houses, about half built since 2000, and a house from those years often puts the laundry upstairs by the bedrooms. From there the dryer vent line runs across the ceiling joists to find an outside wall, and every sag in a long horizontal run is a place for lint to pile up.
The Warrenton Historic District adds one wrinkle. The Town wants a Certificate of Appropriateness before any change to the outside of a building there. A dryer vent cleaning stays inside the line and changes nothing on the facade. Replacing the hood, or opening a new exit through a wall, is exterior work: Town staff can sign off on small, compatible changes, and bigger ones wait for the Architectural Review Board, which meets once a month and takes applications until the 1st.
About six in ten owner homes in town heat with gas, about half in New Baltimore do, and one in seven there burn propane. On a gas or propane dryer the burner’s exhaust leaves through the same line as the lint, so a blocked run matters twice. Fauquier County Fire Rescue takes requests for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through a form on its Public Education page; a house with a fuel-burning dryer should have one.

The Town of Warrenton
Inside the town limits, a little over 4 of the roughly 110 square miles the two Warrenton ZIP codes cover: the Historic District around Main Street, Leeds Square, and the streets off Broadview Avenue and Alwington Boulevard.
The Fauquier County side
New Baltimore only. It’s the one Census place on the county side with mostly Warrenton mail, so the farms and lots beyond it aren’t in these figures.

- Built since 2000about 5 in 10 Census
- Most homes aresingle-family houses, nearly all Census
- Heated withgas, about 5 in 10 Census

- Newer houses often put the laundry upstairs, so the dryer vent crosses a ceiling or climbs to the roof on its way out.
- In a single-family house the dryer vent run is often short, and the hose behind the dryer is where the trouble usually is.

When a dryer vent needs cleaning in Warrenton.
The flap on the hood never opens
Plenty of Warrenton houses back onto woods or fields, and a dryer vent hood with a flap stuck shut is an invitation for birds and mice. If the dryer runs hot and nothing blows out of the hood while it runs, the blockage may be at the outside end, and the camera photos from that end will show it.
The house is newer, the dryer vent isn’t clean
A 2005 house has run twenty years of laundry through its dryer vent, often a long run from an upstairs laundry room, and plenty have never been cleaned end to end.
Towels take two cycles
The first thing most people notice. When the dryer vent is packed, the damp air has nowhere to go, so the clothes stay wet and the dryer runs hot.
How to pick a dryer vent cleaning company in Warrenton.
Questions to ask anybody who quotes you, us included.
Do they ask whether it’s a gas or propane dryer?
A fuel-burning dryer sits on a flexible gas connector, and pulling the machine out to reach the line moves that connector. Ask whether the tech checks it and the shutoff valve when the dryer goes back against the wall.
Do they clean the whole line, end to end?
Brushing the first few feet from the laundry room isn’t a dryer vent cleaning. Ask whether they clean from the back of the dryer to the hood outside, and how they get the lint out of the house instead of pushing it further down.
Do they show you what’s inside the line?
Camera photos of the inside of your dryer vent line are how you know it needed cleaning, and before and after photos are how you know the job was done. Ask to see them, and for a dated invoice if your HOA wants proof.
What our customers say.
I highly recommend identifying the height of your outside vents to make sure they come prepared with the right equipment and ladders. Luckily, Aaron was able to bring the proper ladder as our vents are very high up.

Dryer vent cleaning questions from Warrenton.
Do you clean dryer vents in New Baltimore and Vint Hill?
Yes. Both have Warrenton 20187 addresses and sit in Fauquier County, outside the town limits. The crew, the camera photos and the price book are the same out there as they are on Main Street.
Does a new dryer vent hood in the Historic District need the Town’s approval?
It needs an application. Any outside change in the district goes through a Certificate of Appropriateness, and the Town’s guide lets staff approve in-kind replacement without the Board. A different style of hood, or a new hole in a wall people can see, is what the Board reviews. The dryer vent cleaning itself needs nothing from the Town.
How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in Warrenton?
$298 booked on its own, $199 added to an air duct cleaning, and included every year with Comfort+ membership at $199 a year.
