What’s different in Casanova

One duct system works both seasons in a village where propane and heat pumps split the load.

Casanova sits in ZIP 20119, and the Census data for that area shows a split in heating. About half of owners use electricity, usually a heat pump, while close to three in ten burn propane. Utility gas is not present in this area. That means your ducts serve two different jobs: pushing cool air in summer and warm air in winter. The blower runs in both modes, so the dust and debris inside the trunk lines accumulate year-round, not just during the heating season.

The village is old. The Census counts about one owner home in six built before 1960. These were frame houses, often I-houses, built for stoves or fireplaces. When central air arrived, it was added to the existing structure. The ductwork often runs through attics or crawl spaces that were not designed for it. In these older homes, the flexible ducting is more likely to sag or develop gaps over time. The camera check is critical here because we need to see if the insulation has shifted or if there are leaks pulling unfiltered air into the system.

The weather in Southern Fauquier is extreme. The Warrenton station, three miles away, recorded a low of 3 degrees in January 2026. In the heat, it hit 99 degrees in 2011. When the system works this hard to keep up, the blower motor runs for long stretches. That constant airflow moves dust through the system. If your filter door is loose or the rack is warped, that dust settles on the blower wheel and the coil. Cleaning the ducts without addressing the blower area leaves the source of the recirculation dirty.

Storms are a real factor for ductwork in this area. The August 2021 windstorm brought 60 knot gusts and took down trees near Casanova Road. The July 2025 flash flood closed Balls Mill Road with a foot of water. If your home is near Turkey Run or the creeks that feed it, check your crawl space after a storm. Water damage to duct insulation is not a cleaning job; it is a replacement job. We will tell you the difference when we look. If the ducts are dry and just dirty, we clean them. If they are soaked, we stop and talk to you about what comes next.

What it costs

What duct cleaning costs in Casanova.

The same price book as our air duct cleaning page, for a home up to 2,000 square feet on one system. We look first: the tech takes a cover off, puts a camera in and photographs what’s in your ducts, then shows you, so you see their current condition before you decide. No charge, including when yours are fine. Then you get the price in writing, then we clean.

  • Return Air Duct Cleaning$298
  • Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning$598, regularly $798
  • Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning with ActivePure Air Scrubber$1,798
  • Dryer Vent Cleaning, on its own$298
  • Dryer Vent Cleaning, added to a duct cleaning$199

A second system bills at 90 percent of the tier, because it’s isolated and cleaned on its own. The calculator on our air duct cleaning page does the arithmetic for a bigger house.

The dryer vent cleaning is the yearly one, and it’s in Comfort+ membership at $199 a year along with a water heater flush with a sewer camera inspection, a heating maintenance visit and a cooling maintenance visit.

When it’s worth doing

When duct cleaning is worth it in Casanova.

The air smells dusty when the system starts

That smell is usually dust sitting on the blower wheel or the heat exchanger. When the fan kicks on, it burns off a little bit of that dust, creating the odor. It is a sign that the system is moving debris around the house. A cleaning removes that layer so the air coming out of the vents is cleaner.

Nobody remembers the last time

Which is most houses. Nobody opens a duct, so it never comes up until somebody looks.

You just bought the place

You don’t know whether the last owners had three cats or ever took a register cover off. Most new owners want it done once, early, so they know what they’re starting with.

Choosing who cleans them

How to pick the best duct cleaning company in Casanova.

Questions to ask anybody who quotes you, us included.

  1. Do you clean the blower compartment?

Yes. The ducts are only part of the system. The blower wheel, the motor, and the cabinet where the air is pushed are where the dust collects. We open the access panel, vacuum the wheel, and clean the interior. If we only clean the registers, the dust just gets blown back into the ducts within a week.

  2. Do they look before they quote?

Ask whether they’ll put a camera in and show you photos of what’s inside first. A price given at the door, sight unseen, is a price for the average house, not yours.

  3. Do they clean the returns, or only the supply vents?

The returns are the big grilles that pull air back to the system, and they’re the side that collects dust. A job that only counts supply registers leaves half the system alone.

  4. Is the price for the whole system, in writing?

Ask what it covers: every supply and return, the main trunk, the blower compartment. The $59 mailbox coupon covers getting somebody into the attic.

Questions

Duct cleaning questions from Casanova.

What if my home is on a private well?

It does not change the duct cleaning job. Your water source does not affect the air system. We focus on the dust and debris inside the ducts. If you have a dehumidifier or a humidifier connected to the system, we check those components too, because they can add moisture to the ducts if they are not maintained.

How long does the cleaning take?

For a standard single-system home in Casanova, it usually takes a few hours. We start with the main trunk line, then move to the branches. We use a negative air machine to keep the dust out of your living space while we work. We finish by cleaning the registers and the blower compartment. You will see the before and after photos on your phone before we leave.

How much does air duct cleaning cost in Casanova?

$598 for Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning, regularly $798, on a home up to 2,000 square feet with one system, $298 for Return Air Duct Cleaning, and $1,798 with an ActivePure air scrubber installed. A dryer vent is $298 on its own or $199 added to a duct cleaning.

Is it worth it?

Sometimes, and the camera photos are how you find out. If the duct walls are furred over, cleaning takes that out of the loop your air runs through, and the before and after are obvious. If the metal is clean, it isn’t worth doing and we’ll say so. The EPA’s position is that routine cleaning hasn’t been shown to prevent health problems, so we don’t sell it that way.
