HVAC Installation Time Lapse: Fast Clip, Careful Furnace Swap
The joke is a customer asking for a fast HVAC install and the techs hitting fast-forward. Underneath, it's an HVAC installation time lapse of a real gas furnace swap in a basement, done in shoe covers.

What you’re seeing in this video
The setup is a basement furnace room. A customer's line on screen asks if the job can go fast, and the clip speeds up. Two techs in shoe covers haul out panels from the old furnace, one stops to mug for the camera, and the room clears out.
By the end, a tech crouches at the new gas furnace now standing where the old one was. Everything between those two shots is the part nobody films at normal speed: the gas line, the venting, the wiring and the first fire.
Why it matters in your house
- Shoe covers on a furnace job mean the installers plan to walk through your house a dozen times without tracking it up. Notice whether yours bring them.
- A gas furnace swap usually fits in a day, but the checks that keep it safe, like the gas leak test, the flue draft test and a combustion reading, take real minutes. Fast is fine; skipped is not.
- Ask to see the startup numbers when the job wraps. Gas pressure and temperature rise on a new furnace should land inside the range on the label inside the door.
How long does an HVAC installation take?
A straight furnace or AC swap with the same footprint usually takes one day. A full system, furnace and AC together, often runs one to two days. New ductwork, a relocation or a switch to a heat pump can add more. A time lapse makes it look like minutes, but the startup tests at the end deserve their full time.
