Air Duct Cleaning Before and After: A Wall Return, Nope to Yep
The before is a wall return opening packed with thick gray dust. The after starts with a tech putting a red vacuum hose down a floor register, which is how dirty ducts become clean ducts.

What you’re seeing in this video
Sixteen seconds, two scenes. First the before: a wall return opening, grille off, with dust caked thick on all four edges. The text on screen calls it what it is. Nope.
Then Aaron, our duct cleaning technician, filmed from above in his red headlamp, works a red vacuum hose into a floor register. The headlamp lets him see down into the boot, the short elbow of duct that joins the register to the run under the floor.
Air duct cleaning before and after shots are part of how we show you the work. Our camera takes photos of the ducts, and we go through them with you after, side by side when we can get a clear shot.
Why it matters in your house
- A return caked like this one isn't a one-month problem. It's years of the house's dust, and the system has been pulling air across it the whole time.
- When you hire air duct cleaning, ask to see the photos. A good company shows you what came out, not just a bill.
- Floor registers catch crumbs, small toys and pet hair as well as dust. Vacuuming the grille yourself helps, but it won't reach the boot or the run.
How do I know if my air duct cleaning was done right?
Ask for the photos. You should see the same openings before and after, and the after should show bare metal or clean flex, not a thin gray film. Registers should be back on, the filter checked and the system running. If a company can't show you what changed, that's your answer.
