To replace old plumbing pipes under a sink: shut the water off, cut out the old valve and pipe, fit new pipe and a new shutoff, then run the tap clear. This clip does it in fourteen seconds.

What you’re seeing in this video
Fourteen seconds, three steps. It starts with a SwiftPro tech with a long dark beard holding a small clear part up to the camera.
Then the cut. A tech in a brown sleeve works behind a sheet of foil heat shielding in the cabinet and cuts out an old brass valve along with the pipe it sits on. An under-sink shutoff often gets replaced with the pipe, because an old one that won't close fully is no help in a leak.
Last, the faucet goes on and water runs clear into the sink. Running the line clears air and any bits from the cut, and shows the new joints are holding.
Why it matters in your house
- Find the shutoff valves under your sinks and turn them once a year. If one won't budge or drips when you do, it's due.
- Water that runs cloudy, rusty or with flecks when you first open a tap can mean old pipe breaking down inside, even when it looks fine outside.
- Cabinet walls scorch easily. If anyone takes a torch under your sink, there should be a heat shield between the flame and the wood.
Can I replace the pipes under my sink myself?
The drain pieces, the plastic trap and tailpiece, are a reasonable weekend job with slip nuts and a bucket. The supply side is different: the shutoff valve and the pipe behind it carry full house pressure all day. If that needs cutting or a torch, get a plumber, because a bad joint there leaks while you're asleep.
