Shortest Guy on the HVAC Crew Still Wants a Hand on the Ladder

The shortest guy on the HVAC crew can't reach the ladder his teammates are carrying, so he jumps for it. Behind the gag, the vans in the lot carry SwiftPro's Virginia Class A license number.

What you’re seeing in this video

Three techs walk an extension ladder overhead across the SwiftPro shop lot. One is tall in a black t-shirt and white shorts, another wears a grey hoodie and cap, and the shortest, in a black t-shirt and grey cargo pants, keeps hopping to get a hand on it.

Behind them, wrapped SwiftPro vans line the lot, showing a Trane badge and the company's VA Class A contractor license number printed on the side.

Someone counts off one, two, three, four on the audio like a drill instructor. No job on screen, just coworkers goofing in their own lot before heading out.

Why it matters in your house

  • Virginia's Class A license is the top contractor class. You can look up any contractor's license number on the state DPOR site before you let them start work.
  • Carrying an extension ladder overhead is a two-person job. Set against a house, it goes one foot out from the wall for every four feet up, extending three feet past the roof edge.
  • A license number on the van is a public commitment. If a company's trucks don't show one, ask for it before the job starts.

What is a Class A contractor license in Virginia?

It's the highest of Virginia's three contractor license classes, issued by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Class A firms can take on jobs of any size and must show more experience and financial standing than Class B or C. Any license number can be checked on DPOR's website.
