Why we choose Trane
Why Trane is the system we recommend first
Ask us what we’d put in our own house and you’ll hear Trane. Not because the badge is magic. Here are the four reasons, and each one is something you can check.
The honest part: a Trane costs more than a builder-grade system, and a good brand installed badly loses to a plain one installed well. The install is the part we sweat.
Four reasons
Each one is something you can check.
Trane tests it hard.
Trane says every product it makes goes through rigorous testing in its own SEET labs.
Trane’s own words
The parts warranty is long, if it’s registered.
Ten years on parts for most Trane equipment when it’s registered within 60 days of the install. We add two years of our own labor on top.
Trane’s warranty page
Parts come through Ferguson.
We buy our Trane systems and parts through Ferguson, Trane's distributor for our area.
Our crews know it inside out.
Trane is what we recommend first, so it’s the system our installers set and our technicians open most. Equipment a crew knows is equipment that gets installed right.
On the roof, too
Lowered into place, by our crew.
A Trane packaged rooftop unit coming down onto its curb on one of our commercial jobs. House or rooftop, the install is the part we sweat.

Trane Comfort Specialist is a dealer program Trane runs itself. Not every dealer is one, and Trane lists the ones who are on its own dealer locator. Here’s what that means at your house.

The warranty, as we sell it
Ten years on parts and two years of our labor, in writing
Every Trane system we install comes with both, included in the price. The parts side is Trane’s. The labor side is ours.
- Parts
- Trane
- 10 years on most equipment when it’s registered within 60 days of the install. 5 if it isn’t.
- Labor
- SwiftPro
- 2 years, included in the price.
- Longer labor
- SwiftPro
- 5 or 10 years if you want it, priced on your quote.
Trane’s parts warranty doesn’t pay for labor, which is why ours matters. If a covered part fails in the first two years, the part and the labor to put it in are both taken care of.
Registration is the step people miss, so ask about it at your install. Trane’s warranty and registration page
Straight answers
Questions about Trane, answered straight
Is a Trane worth the money?
Usually, if you’re staying in the house. A Trane costs more than a builder-grade system. What you get for it is equipment Trane tests in its own labs, ten years on parts when it’s registered, parts through Ferguson, and a crew that knows it. On a tight budget, a 17 Multi-Speed with a 96 Two-Stage furnace is Trane at the lower end, and we’ll quote it beside a higher tier so you choose with both numbers in front of you.
Is Trane better than other brands?
We won’t tell you every other brand is bad, because it isn’t true. The big makers all build good equipment, and any of it fails early when it’s sized wrong or charged wrong. We choose Trane for the reasons on this page, and we put the most care into the install, because that’s where a system is won or lost.
How long does a Trane furnace last?
Fifteen to twenty years for a gas furnace that gets looked at every fall, and a Trane is no exception. Heat pumps run all year, so twelve to fifteen is more typical. The ones that quit early usually die of a sizing mistake or a filter nobody changed, not the badge.
Do you service Trane systems you didn’t install?
Yes. A Trane that came with the house, or one another company put in, gets the same visit: the fault found and the price in writing before any work starts. The diagnostic visit is $99. If it’s still under Trane’s parts warranty, the part may be covered; the labor usually isn’t, unless the company that installed it included some.
Can a Trane heat pump keep up with a Northern Virginia winter?
Yes, and the 20 TruComfort is the one we’d point you to for it: most of its matched systems carry ENERGY STAR’s cold-climate label. If the house has gas, pairing a Trane heat pump with a Trane furnace lets gas take the coldest nights. Our dual fuel guide walks through where that switch should sit.
What’s the difference between the 20 TruComfort, the 18 TruComfort and the 17 Multi-Speed?
How finely they adjust. The 20 and 18 TruComfort are variable speed (Trane rates the 18 heat pump at 25 to 100% of its capacity), so they hold a steadier temperature and run quieter, and they run on Trane’s Link UX360. The 17 Multi-Speed is inverter-driven, with fewer steps. All three are good systems; the price climbs with the number.
How much does a new Trane system cost?
In our price book, a gas furnace on its own runs $4,285 to $14,040 installed, a furnace and air conditioner together $8,898 to $23,000, and a heat pump system $8,499 to $21,650, by size and efficiency. Our free estimator gives you a range for your own house in a couple of minutes, and the written quote is free. From about $71 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit.
What comes with a 20 or 18 TruComfort?
Premium 24/7 remote diagnostics and system control, included for 10 years. On the 20 and 18 TruComfort, the Trane Link UX360 runs the whole system and the Trane Home app puts it on your phone. Turn on Trane Diagnostics and we see how it's running and get its alerts, any day, any hour, so some problems get handled without a visit. We watch it and answer those alerts for 10 years, included. Trane's ten years on parts, when it's registered, and two years of our labor come with it too.
How does the Trane rebate work?
Buy a qualifying Trane system from us, sold Oct 1 to Nov 15, 2026 and installed by Dec 1, 2026, and Trane’s rebate comes straight off the price on your quote. Up to $900 is the $850 system rebate plus $50 for a Trane smart thermostat. We check your exact model against Trane’s list and handle the paperwork.
