AC Condenser Disconnect Install, Then a Finished Sump Pump
Two jobs in one clip: a tech mounting the outdoor disconnect that kills power to an AC condenser, then a finished basement sump pump with a sealed lid. Both are small parts that protect big ones.

What you’re seeing in this video
Outside, a bearded tech in a camo hoodie runs screws into an electrical disconnect box on the side of the house with an impact driver. The insulated copper line set that feeds the outdoor AC unit runs right beside it. That box is the condenser's on and off switch, and code wants one within sight of the unit so nobody works on it live.
Then it jumps to the basement: a finished sump pump install, the basin closed with a sealed lid and white PVC discharge pipe climbing out of it toward the wall. It's a quick cut, so you see the finished pit rather than the pump going in.
Why it matters in your house
- A rusted or cracked disconnect beside an old condenser is worth replacing during any AC change-out. It's the switch every future tech relies on to work safely.
- A sealed sump lid keeps debris out of the pit, cuts down on basement dampness and keeps curious kids and pets away from the pump.
- If your sump basin sits open with a loose board over it, that's an easy fix to ask about on the next visit.
What is the gray box next to my outdoor AC unit?
That's the disconnect, an outdoor switch that cuts power to the condenser. It lets a tech shut the unit off right where they're working, and code requires one within sight of the unit. Some have a pull-out block, some a lever or a breaker. If yours is rusted through or the cover's gone, have it replaced.
