Why it matters in your house
- An AC that runs and runs without reaching the thermostat setting is asking for help. Low refrigerant, a dirty coil or a failing capacitor are common reasons.

How do I know if my AC is about to fail?
Listen and look. New grinding, buzzing or clicking, weak airflow, warm air from some rooms, ice on the lines, water near the indoor unit and short on-off cycles are the common warnings. Catching one early usually means a smaller repair than waiting for a no-cool call in July.
