HVAC Tech Phone Photos, Like This Attic Dryer Vent Packed With Lint

HVAC tech phone photos fill a camera roll for a reason: they show you what's hiding where you'll never crawl. This one shows a dryer vent in an attic, choked with lint at the top.

What you’re seeing in this video

A man in a black shirt talks into his phone from inside a closet, set as an inset over an attic shot. The joke is a phone storage warning, and none of it is selfies.

The attic footage follows a dryer vent pipe running up through the insulation toward the roof. At the top, the pipe is packed solid with lint, a plug no dryer can push air past.

Long dryer vent runs that climb through an attic to a roof cap clog faster than a short run out a wall. Warm, damp air cools as it rises, and lint drops out and sticks right where nobody looks.

Why it matters in your house

  • Ask for photos. A tech who shows you the lint in your attic dryer vent is giving you proof, and you can decide from what you see instead of what you're told.
  • If a roof cap on a dryer vent has a screen, that screen should come off. Code bans screens on dryer exhaust because they catch lint. Roof-vented dryers deserve dryer vent cleaning every year.
  • If clothes take longer to dry and the laundry room feels humid, the dryer vent may be blocked somewhere you can't see from the laundry room.

Why do HVAC techs take so many photos?

Because the problems live in attics, crawlspaces, ducts and cabinets most homeowners never see. A photo shows you the lint plug, the rusted pan or the cracked part, so the recommendation comes with proof. It also gives the next tech a record of how your system looked before the repair.
