Is American Standard a good brand? Yes. American Standard heating and air conditioning belongs to Trane Technologies, the same company as Trane, and its furnaces are covered by the very same warranty document as Trane’s. The top American Standard furnace, the Platinum 95, is rated up to 97.3% AFUE and modulates from 40% to 100%. A furnace and AC we install runs $8,898 to $23,000. From about $148 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit.

American Standard’s lines, in plain words

American Standard heating and cooling lines
Line What it means
Platinum The top: the Platinum 95 modulating furnace and the AccuComfort variable speed Platinum 20 heat pumps, including a Cold Climate version.
Gold The middle: two-stage furnaces and the Gold 17 multi-speed heat pump.
Silver The entry line: single-stage furnaces and the Silver 16 heat pump.

For ductless, American Standard partners with Mitsubishi Electric, the same as Trane.

American Standard vs Trane

Same company, same furnace warranty document, different badges and model names. Trane’s dealer program and American Standard’s are separate, so which one you get offered mostly depends on which dealer you called. We’re a Trane Comfort Specialist, so a new system from us is a Trane; an American Standard already in your house gets the same $99 diagnostic and the same repair prices as anything else.

The system we put in first

Built to take a beating. Put in by our crew.

Heat lamps, snow and rain on one outdoor unit: that’s Trane’s own film. We’re a Trane Comfort Specialist, on Trane’s own dealer locator, and when you pick a Trane, our crew puts it in.

Films: Trane’s own.

Trane's film: a Trane outdoor unit on a dark lab stage under the Trane logo and "It's Hard To Stop A Trane."
Trane's film: a Trane outdoor unit under a spotlight against a bare wall.

What matters more than the badge

An American Standard sized off a real load calculation, on ductwork that can carry its air, with the charge set by measurement, will outlast a fancier unit put in badly. Register it within 60 days for the longer parts warranty, change the filter, and have it looked at once a year.
