What does HVAC replacement cost in Northern Virginia?
House size sets the floor. At SwiftPro, a furnace and AC replaced together run $8,898 to $19,500 installed for a house up to 1,250 square feet and $11,403 to $23,000 for a house of 2,401 to 3,000 square feet. A heat pump system runs $8,499 to $18,900 and $10,999 to $21,650 for the same two houses. From about $142 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit.
Equipment sets the spread inside each size. A single-stage system sits at the bottom of the range and a variable speed, high efficiency system at the top. The top buys a quieter house, a steadier temperature and more humidity pulled out of the air in August. The $1,500 off new heating and AC is already in every one of these prices.
What moves the price on a Northern Virginia house?
A new system inherits whatever the house already has: ductwork, venting and electrical that somebody else put in, often decades ago. Here’s what moves your number:
- System type. A furnace and AC together, a heat pump system, or ductless for a house without ducts.
- Size. Set by a load calculation on your house, not by the label on the old unit. Plenty of old systems were oversized, and replacing like for like keeps the mistake.
- Efficiency. Higher SEER2 and AFUE ratings cost more up front and less every month after.
- Ductwork. An undersized return or leaky runs hold a new system back, and the time to fix them is while the old one is out.
- Venting and electrical. A 96 percent furnace vents through PVC instead of the old flue, and a heat pump can need a new circuit.
- The permit. Your county sets the fee, we pull the permit, and an inspector checks the work.
Some houses need more: duct repairs or new runs, zoning, a new thermostat, or asbestos removal. Older houses in Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun most often need at least one, and the free in-home measurement is where we find out, before you sign anything.
What’s in a SwiftPro replacement
It starts with a load calculation on your house: the square footage, the insulation, the windows and the ductwork you have. A system sized right runs long, even cycles and holds the temperature. One sized wrong short-cycles, wears out early and leaves the house clammy in summer.
Your price comes in writing before work starts, with nothing added after it. If the old system quits before replacement day, we answer 24/7.
How do you tell a real quote from a lowball one?
A real quote comes from somebody who measured your house and looked at the ductwork, the venting and the electrical panel. A lowball one priced the average house over the phone, and the difference turns up on install day as an add-on. Ask for what’s included in writing before you sign.
SwiftPro holds 5.0 stars across 1,138 reviews from Northern Virginia customers.
How to get your price
Two ways. The estimator gives your size’s range in about two minutes. A free in-home measurement turns that range into your price: a technician measures the house, checks the ductwork, venting and electrical, and puts the number in writing.
We install across Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince William and Fauquier Counties. SwiftPro is licensed (Virginia #2705192276), insured, BBB Accredited and independently owned.
How do I get an estimate?
Call (703) 997-9757 or book a free in-home measurement online. We’ll ask four things:
- How old the system is, and what it’s needed lately
- How big the house is, and what the ductwork looks like
- What you want most: lower bills, a quieter system, or upstairs that matches downstairs
- How soon you need it
If the old one has already quit, say so. We answer around the clock.

HVAC replacement cost questions
How much does HVAC replacement cost in Northern Virginia?
At SwiftPro, a furnace and AC together run $8,898 to $23,000 installed by system size, a heat pump system $8,499 to $21,650, and a furnace alone $4,285 to $14,040. From about $71 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit.
Can I finance a new HVAC system?
Yes. A new furnace and AC starts at $8,898 installed. From about $148 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit. Longer plans lower the payment and cost more in total.
Is the $1,500 off taken off my quote?
It’s already in the prices. The $1,500 off new heating and AC is built into every price we publish, so it isn’t taken off again at your appointment.
Is there still a federal tax credit for a new HVAC system?
No. The federal 25C credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, so a 2026 install doesn’t qualify. If a quote has a federal tax credit built into its math, ask about it, and check anything tax related with a tax professional.
