A little attention, every year

An annual check-up
for your heating system.

Think of it like your annual visit to the doctor. Routine check-ups can catch small issues before they become serious problems.

A SwiftPro maintenance visit gives your system focused attention before the season asks more of it. We check the parts that start the heat, move the air and respond to your thermostat, then explain what we find.

The heating maintenance visit

What we check during
heating maintenance.

Here are the five things we focus on during heating maintenance, matched to the kind of system in your home.

A technician opens the filter slot to show where the furnace filter sits.
  1. Starting the heat

On fuel-burning equipment, we test the ignition system and burners: the parts that start and produce the heat.

  2. The fan and motor

We check the blower and motor components, which move air from your system to your rooms.

  3. The small doors that steer air

We verify the settings of accessible dampers, the small doors inside ducts that help direct air. Tell us about any room that feels different.

  4. The thermostat

We check that the thermostat responds as it should and calibrate it where its design allows.

  5. The filter

We check whether the filter needs attention. Whether a replacement is included depends on the visit you choose.

We explain what we find. If the system needs a repair or deeper cleaning, we explain the price before you choose.

The simple version

Your system moves air and heat.
Here is what can get in the way.

You do not need to know the parts by name. Think of a fan, a radiator and a few helpers working together to keep your rooms comfortable.

The same outdoor coil before and after cleaning, with debris on the left and clear metal fins on the right.
The outdoor coil before cleaning on the left, with its metal fins clear afterward on the right.

Think of the outdoor coil like a radiator.

In summer, heat from inside your home travels outside and leaves through this part. Air needs to pass through the little metal fins so the heat can get away.

Grass and dirt get in the way. Cleaning gives the air a clearer path. We confirm the cleaning needed for your equipment before work starts.

The fan sends air to your rooms.

The round fan inside the system is called the blower wheel. It pushes warm or cool air through your home. Dust on its blades can get in the way and make it work harder.

What about an inch of dust? A blanket that thick would cover the fan’s working surfaces. Have visible buildup checked well before that. How much air is lost depends on the fan and system.

We check the fan during maintenance. Taking it out for washing is deeper work. See the blower deep-clean service.

The outside coil helps heat move.

During AC use, it lets heat leave the house. Dirt blocks air and makes that job harder. A heat pump uses the same outdoor part to collect heat in winter.

Ask us about AC maintenance and coil cleaning. If the house has already stopped heating or cooling, tell us when you book.

Starting the heat takes teamwork.

The thermostat asks for heat. In a gas furnace, the flame heats a sealed metal part. House air passes across its outside, warms up and goes to your rooms. Once the room is warm enough, the call for heat ends.

A heat pump moves heat with a special fluid instead of lighting gas burners.

If it keeps trying to start or never warms the house, book a heating diagnostic.

A loaded filter is a crowded doorway.

The filter catches particles as air passes through. When it fills up, air has a harder time getting through. That can leave rooms less comfortable and make the system’s job harder.

Check it as your equipment and filter instructions recommend. We check its condition during maintenance. Ask us about your filter.

Small helpers get the big parts going.

A small switch, called a contactor, lets power reach parts such as the compressor. Some motors also use a capacitor to help them start or run. If one of these helpers fails, a clean system may still refuse to start.

Humming with no start or a fan that will not run needs a repair visit. Leave electrical covers and testing to the technician.

The inside coil cools air and catches water.

In summer, air gives up heat and moisture as it passes over a cold indoor coil. The water should drain away. Dirt makes the air’s path harder; water that does not drain can allow growth.

If mold growth is present, moving air can carry spores. A dirty coil alone does not tell us there is mold.

Ice, unwanted leaks or lasting smells deserve a closer look. Tell us what you have noticed.

The maintenance visit checks your system. Deeper cleaning and repairs have their own prices, which we explain before you approve the work.

Not sure what you are looking at? Tell us. We are here to help.

When the heat stops

Need a repair visit instead?

If your heating is not working, book a diagnostic visit. SwiftPro’s heating diagnostic is $99; repair work is quoted separately. Comfort+ includes the diagnostic fee. For urgent heating problems, call about 24/7 emergency service.

Start with what you notice

How do I know my system
needs attention?

You do not need a diagnosis before calling. A sound, a cold room or a filter that looks full is enough to start the conversation.

Does the filter look full?

Follow your filter and equipment instructions. If changing it does not help weak airflow, tell us.

Why the filter matters ↗

Does it sound different or keep restarting?

Tell us what you hear and when it happens. New loud noises or repeated starts need a closer look.

What if the fan is not running? ↗

Is one room always behind?

Check that furniture is not blocking the vents. Airflow, ducts and insulation can all matter, so mention the room when booking.

Why one room stays cold ↗

Has the heat stopped?

Check the thermostat settings below. A heat pump can briefly change during defrost, but a house that keeps getting colder needs a diagnostic.

Read the cold-air guide ↗

Do you see ice or an unwanted leak?

Indoor icing, outdoor ice that does not clear, or water leaking where it should not be needs investigation. Take a photo only if you can do so without opening equipment.

What can be normal outside? ↗

Is it working, but maintenance is due?

That is the time for routine care. Plan heating maintenance in the fall and cooling maintenance in the spring.

Book heating maintenance ↗

A few easy things to try

Furnace not blowing warm air?

Start here, without opening equipment or touching wiring.

  • HEAT: Check the thermostat is set to heating.
  • Temperature: Set it above the room’s current temperature.
  • AUTO: Check the fan setting. ON can move unheated air between heat cycles.
  • Batteries: If your thermostat uses them, follow its instructions for a battery alert or blank screen.
  • Filter: Check it using the safe access shown in your owner’s manual.
  • Vents: Move furniture, rugs or curtains away from supply and return openings.

Still cold? That is where we come in. Ongoing cold air, loud noises or repeat starts need a qualified HVAC technician. A brief heat-pump defrost can be normal; ongoing lack of heat needs a diagnostic.

A few good questions

Your questions,
answered plainly.

I don’t know which visit to book.

Tell us what you have noticed, even if you do not know what to call it. A working system can have heating maintenance at the current $67 special price. If the heat has stopped or something is wrong, start with a $99 diagnostic. Tell us what is happening.

What if I just want it checked?

That is what heating maintenance is for. The current special is $67 for your working furnace or heat pump, through December 31, 2026. See the current special.

Will this turn into a bigger bill?

We explain what we find and give you the price of recommended work before you approve it. A repair or deeper cleaning has its own price. You can ask questions before deciding. Talk with our team.

Can you fix it while you are here?

Common repairs can often be completed during the visit when the right part is available. First, we find the fault and explain the price. If a part needs ordering or more work is needed, we explain the next step before you decide. Book a diagnostic.

Someone said I need a new furnace.

Age is a reason to look more closely, not a complete diagnosis. If another company has given you a repair or replacement quote, SwiftPro offers a free second opinion. We may agree or see another option. Ask for a free second opinion.

Is a free second opinion the same as a diagnostic?

A free second opinion reviews another company’s existing heating or cooling quote. There is no charge and no obligation to buy. A visit to find a new fault is our $99 diagnostic. Read the second-opinion details.

Do you work on heat pumps too?

Yes. We maintain heat pumps as well as gas furnaces. The checks match the system: an electric heat pump does not use gas burners. See heating services.
