Written October 2026, with Arlington County’s permit page, the Census and every review platform read the same month.

A new furnace and air conditioner in Arlington runs $8,898 to $23,000 installed, depending on the size of the house and the equipment you pick. From about $148 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit. That’s our Northern Virginia price book, posted on our Arlington furnace and AC page before anyone comes out.

Arlington is one of the busiest towns on our schedule, and our heating and cooling crews are there most weekdays. We do more work through landlords and property managers there than in almost any other town, so condo buildings, tenant scheduling and access rules are routine for us. This guide covers what a replacement costs, the County’s permit rule (it turns on whether the equipment burns gas), and what to check about any company before it touches your system.

No heat or no cooling right now? Call (703) 997-9757. We run 24/7 emergency service.

In Arlington most weekdays

Our shop is on Lafayette Center Drive in Chantilly. Our crews spend their days out across Northern Virginia, and Arlington is one of the towns they’re in most, from North Arlington’s capes and colonials to the condo buildings along the Metro corridor. We cover every Arlington ZIP code: 22201, 22202, 22203, 22204, 22205, 22206, 22207, 22209 and 22213. The work is done by our own HVAC team, separate from our plumbers.

Each service we do in Arlington has its own page, and every one opens with the price: furnace and AC replacement, furnace replacement, heat pump replacement, ductless mini-splits, AC repair and furnace repair. The rest is on our Arlington page.

Repair or replace, in an Arlington home

More than half of Arlington’s homes are in condo and apartment buildings, about a quarter are detached houses, and townhouses are fewer than one in ten. More homes are rented than owned. It’s an older housing stock, too. About a third went up before 1960, and the median owner’s home dates from 1960. Gas heats about six in ten owner-occupied homes, with more than a third on electricity (Census: homes by type, year built, median year, owners, renters and heating fuel).

One Arlington rule matters before you get a quote: when a furnace or anything else that burns fuel is replaced, the County inspects the vent or chimney it connects to, for its size, blockages and condition. In an older house, ask whether the quote covers what the chimney needs.

The rule we use on a repair call: under about eight years old, repair almost anything. Past about fourteen, a compressor, a heat exchanger or a reversing valve is replacement money, and that’s the time to put a replacement price beside the repair price before you decide. In between, it depends on the part and the shape of the rest of the system. Repair vs replace your AC has the longer version.

In a condo or a rental, the job also runs through the building and the owner: access, work hours, who signs off. That’s routine for us in Arlington, and it’s worth asking any company how they handle it. Our Arlington heating repair guide covers what fails in the older houses and in the corridor buildings, with what each repair costs.

What a new system costs in Arlington

Installed prices from our price book for 2 to 5 ton systems, the same numbers our HVAC estimator works from. The size of the house, the efficiency you pick, and what the ductwork and venting need decide where you land.

The job Installed Or monthly
Furnace and AC replaced together $8,898 to $23,000 $148/mo at 0% APR for 60 months
Furnace alone, keeping your AC $4,285 to $14,040 $71/mo at 0% APR for 60 months
Heat pump system $8,499 to $21,650 $142/mo at 0% APR for 60 months

Monthly figures: 60mo @ 0% APR on each starting price, the whole price financed, on approved credit. Longer plans lower the payment and cost more in total. The lender sets the final terms.

The estimator gives your house its own number in about two minutes. Then one of our technicians measures, and the price is in writing before anything is ordered. Two years of our labor come with every install, and five or ten are available. Here’s how financing works.

Our reviews, low ones included

Counted across every platform we’re on, we’re rated 5.0 stars across 1,132 reviews on Google, Angi, Yelp, the BBB and Facebook. The lowest of them is Yelp, at 4.4 stars, about one in twenty of the total, and it’s in the count on purpose. A number that leaves out the hard site isn’t the whole number.

Each platform’s rating, its count and the date it was read are at swiftproreviews.com, and the reviews themselves are on our reviews page. Read the low ones before you decide.

What to check about any Arlington HVAC company

  1. The license. Look the company up on DPOR’s License Lookup. The name should match your estimate, the license should be active, and it should cover HVAC. Ours is Virginia Class A 2705192276, printed on the side of our vans.
  2. The permit, and the gas rule. Arlington County requires a mechanical permit to add, remove or move a furnace, an air conditioner or ductwork. Swapping one for the same type, size and location needs no mechanical permit, unless it burns gas: then it takes a plumbing and gas permit, and the vent or chimney gets inspected. Even with no permit, the County wants Zoning to approve where an outdoor unit sits. And some residential buildings count as commercial under the Building Code, so a condo job can need a commercial permit.
  3. Every line in writing. The AC or heat pump’s size in tons and its SEER2 rating, the furnace’s size and efficiency, the coil, the thermostat, the permit, hauling the old equipment away, and the years of labor. A lower total that leaves off the coil or the permit isn’t lower. How to read an HVAC replacement estimate goes line by line.
  4. Reviews on every platform, not one site’s worth. Our HVAC contractor guide covers the rest, including insurance and the written contract.

Arlington HVAC questions, answered straight

Does SwiftPro serve Arlington, VA?

Yes, every Arlington ZIP code: 22201, 22202, 22203, 22204, 22205, 22206, 22207, 22209 and 22213, with our own heating and cooling team. Arlington is one of the busiest towns on our schedule, and we’re there most weekdays. Our Arlington page lists every service with its price.

How much does a new HVAC system cost in Arlington?

A furnace and air conditioner replaced together runs $8,898 to $23,000 installed. A furnace alone runs $4,285 to $14,040, and a heat pump system $8,499 to $21,650. From about $148 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit. Where you land depends on the size of the house, the efficiency you pick, and the ductwork and venting.

SwiftPro is based in Chantilly. Does that matter in Arlington?

Not for the work. The shop is in Chantilly, but the crews spend their days out on jobs, and Arlington is one of the towns they’re in most. We do more work through landlords and property managers in Arlington than in almost any other town, so condo buildings and tenant scheduling are routine for us there.

Do I need a permit to replace my furnace or AC in Arlington?

It depends on gas. Arlington County doesn’t require a mechanical permit to swap a furnace or air conditioner for one of the same type, size and location, unless it burns gas. A gas furnace takes a plumbing and gas permit, and the County inspects the vent or chimney it connects to. Adding, removing or moving equipment or ductwork takes a mechanical permit.

Can you replace the HVAC in an Arlington condo or rental?

Yes. Landlord and property manager work is routine for us in Arlington, and so are building access rules and scheduling around tenants. Ask the building about its rules first, and ask your contractor which permit applies: Arlington counts some residential buildings as commercial under the Building Code.

Should I repair or replace my HVAC system?

Under about eight years old, repair almost anything. Past about fourteen, a compressor, a heat exchanger or a reversing valve is replacement money. On a call like that, get the replacement price beside the repair price before you decide.

Why is SwiftPro’s Yelp rating lower than its Google rating?

Yelp is a small slice of our reviews, about one in twenty, and it filters hard. It’s our lowest score at 4.4, and we count it in our total anyway. Every platform’s number and the date it was read are on our reviews page.

Is SwiftPro licensed and insured?

Yes. Virginia Class A contractor license 2705192276, licensed and insured, BBB Accredited with an A rating. We’re a Trane Comfort Specialist, Carrier experts, a Rheem Pro Partner and a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor.

Can I pay for a new system monthly?

Yes. From about $148 a month at 0% APR for 60 months, the whole price financed, on approved credit. Longer plans lower the payment and cost more in total. Here’s how financing works.

Who is the best HVAC company in Arlington?

The one that will put a repair price and a replacement price side by side, shows you its license and every review, and knows which permit your building needs. Run the four checks above on anyone, us included.

See your Arlington price

Run every check above on us. The license is 2705192276, the reviews are on our reviews page, and the Arlington prices are on our Arlington furnace and AC page. Then the HVAC estimator gives your house its own installed price in about two minutes, and you can book a visit from the same page.

Need a repair or a tune-up rather than a new system? Our HVAC service page has those prices. And if you’re choosing a company for another town, we’ve written the same guide for Reston, Herndon, Sterling, Ashburn, Centreville, Alexandria and Woodbridge.
