Dryer vent cleaning in Middleburg.
A Middleburg dryer vent cleaning is $298 for the whole line, dryer to hood. In the Historic District, moving that hood is a Town question.

Old walls, a guarded streetscape and summer storms on Middleburg dryer lines.
Plenty of Middleburg houses are older than the clothes dryer itself: about one home in four in 20117 dates from 1939 or earlier. In a house like that the laundry landed wherever there was room later, a cellar, an enclosed back porch, a mudroom, and the dryer line leaves by whatever path the walls allowed, sometimes through a stone or brick foundation with more elbows than a newer house would get. Every elbow is a place lint stops.
Inside the Historic District the outside end has rules of its own. The Town’s design guidelines put exhaust pipes and hoods the street can see under the Historic District Review Committee, in the least conspicuous spot, and a new one visible from a public way needs a Certificate of Appropriateness before the work starts. Cleaning the line and putting the same hood back is routine maintenance, which the Town excludes. Moving the line to another wall, or changing the hood’s shape, material or color, is not.
Summer storms are hard on that outside end. NOAA’s storm records note golf-ball hail just northwest of town and hail-broken windows to the east on June 16, 2016, and hundreds of trees, branches and wires down between Middleburg and Upperville in June 2022. A plastic louvered hood can crack under hail, and a falling limb can crush it or pull the line loose behind the wall. After a big storm, walk around and look before the next load.
Snow does its own damage. A trained spotter measured 34 inches in Middleburg after the January 2016 blizzard, and a low hood near the grade is buried under that much. About one owner in five here heats with propane, and where the dryer runs on propane too, its combustion gases leave through the same line as the lint, which makes a buried or blocked hood more than a slow dryer.

When a dryer vent needs cleaning in Middleburg.
Clothes still damp since the windstorm
A hood bent by a branch or packed with blown leaves chokes the line from outside. With the dryer on, look for the flap to lift; if it does and the clothes are still slow, the line itself is due for its dryer vent cleaning.
Towels take two cycles
The first thing most people notice. When the dryer vent is packed, the damp air has nowhere to go, so the clothes stay wet and the dryer runs hot.
It’s been a year
Fire departments around Northern Virginia say once a year, and sooner if clothes start taking longer to dry. If you can’t remember the last dryer vent cleaning, it’s due.
What the fire department says about dryer vents.
Loudoun County
Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue, one of the companies in Loudoun County’s fire and rescue system, says the dryer vent, from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house, should be cleaned at least once a year, and that longer drying times are a sign it’s clogged. Source.

Questions to ask anybody who quotes you, us included.
Do they know the Town’s rules before they touch the hood?
On a house in the Historic District, a replacement hood that changes shape, material or color is something the Town reviews. Ask whether they’ll match what’s there, and whether they’ll tell you before anything new goes on a wall the street can see.
Do they clean the whole line, end to end?
Brushing the first few feet from the laundry room isn’t a dryer vent cleaning. Ask whether they clean from the back of the dryer to the hood outside, and how they get the lint out of the house instead of pushing it further down.
Do they show you what’s inside the line?
Camera photos of the inside of your dryer vent line are how you know it needed cleaning, and before and after photos are how you know the job was done. Ask to see them, and for a dated invoice if your HOA wants proof.
What our customers say.
Aaron, Kaiden, Oscar, Derek and Felix did a great job installing an HVAC unit and cleaning out the ducts and dryer vents, which were very difficult to access! They were all very professional!

Dryer vent cleaning questions from Middleburg.
Is the dryer vent cleaning itself a Historic District matter?
No. The work happens inside the line, and the same hood goes back where it was, which is routine maintenance under the Town’s rules. Only a new hood the street can see, or one in a new spot, goes before the committee.
My farmhouse is outside town, partly in Fauquier. Same price?
Yes. Every 20117 address gets the same $298 for dryer vent cleaning, or $199 alongside an air duct cleaning, whichever county the house sits in.
How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in Middleburg?
$298 booked on its own, $199 added to an air duct cleaning, and included every year with Comfort+ membership at $199 a year.
